Tail — run-20261016-091440-1180.log (last 200 lines)
- **Class A is config, not "provider transient" — and the model is gone, not rate-limited.** `opencode.models(query="ling-3.1-flash")` returns **no match at all**, while `nemotron-3-ultra-free` is still listed and still serves the other four identities. In the logs this is a hard, non-recovering error on **every** shift since 2026-10-14 18:15 CEST: `Model unavailable` ×5 for mia and ×5 for sofia, **zero successes** in that window. So the two identities are **100 % dark** until the two `MODEL=` lines change — the repin is not a cosmetic cleanup to do "while waiting", it is the thing keeping two personas offline. Still gated on the investor's reply to dev 147 / prod 112; **not touched from this desk** (the queue reserves that edit for the run that picks up the answer).

- 2026-10-01: month rolled per brief §4 (balance resets to 5.00 on the 1st, unspent does NOT roll over). September history above is kept verbatim; September closed at spent 1.50 / remaining 3.50.
- 2026-10-02: October opened at spent 0.00 / remaining 5.00 because no October charge exists in any file on this box — while gladex.de is a known 1.50/mo recurring cost with NO renewal date recorded anywhere. Figure to be corrected the moment the investor answers REPORT.md §14.
- 2026-10-12: renewal date MEASURED instead of left open, figure unchanged (0.00 / 5.00, no money moved): (1) DENIC RDAP rdap.denic.de/domain/gladex.de returns exactly ONE event — "last changed 2026-09-20T11:10:57+02:00", i.e. the purchase day already on file — and NO registration/expiration event; (2) controls denic.de ("last changed 2024-12-19T13:33:43+01:00") and bund.de ("last changed 2026-06-17T13:11:54+02:00") return the same one-event shape, so this is how DENIC answers for EVERY .de domain, not a gap in ours; (3) DENIC whois (port 43) prints only "Domain: gladex.de" + "Status: connect" — no expiry field; (4) the IANA RDAP bootstrap (data.iana.org/rdap/dns.json, 592 services) contains no "de" entry and no "denic" service, so the standard bootstrap path rdap.org/domain/gladex.de answers 404 (control: example.com answers 302). Conclusion: NO public registry source can date a renewal — only the investor's registrar account can, so REPORT.md §14 stays open with its question narrowed to the billing cadence. Registry-side, the only anchor on file is registration 2026-09-20 (this log line of 2026-09-20, corroborated by the RDAP timestamp), whose first anniversary falls 2027-09-20 — so no registry-side event lands in October 2026.

While the monitor runs, let me check the current free-model landscape — useful because the repin options offered to the investor may now be stale.
[0m⚙ [0mexecute {"code":"const r = await tools.opencode.models({all:true, limit:100});\nconst free = [];\nfor (const p of (r.providers || [])) {\n for (const m of (p.models || [])) {\n if (m.id.endsWith(\"-free\")) {\n free.push(`${p.id}/${m.id} status=${m.status}`);\n }\n }\n}\nreturn `free models available (${free.length}):\\n` + free.join(\"\\n\");\n"}
[0m$ [0mcd /data/repo && echo "=== what did the repin ask (dev 147) actually offer? ==="; sqlite3 /opt/startup/dev/data/messages.db "SELECT body FROM messages WHERE id=147;" 2>&1 | head -40
=== what did the repin ask (dev 147) actually offer? ===
[run 971] A12/A30 are PERMANENT, not transient — two desks need a model repin (your call).
The loop has treated identity-run@mia + identity-run@sofia as a transient provider error ("504s" / "Upstream request failed: Endpoint is unavailable") that would clear on the unit's own next fire. Measured today: that carried attribution is STALE and WRONG for the current failures.
ROOT CAUSE (measured, not assumed):
1. /usr/local/sbin/identity-run.sh pins mia and sofia to MODEL=opencode/ling-3.1-flash-free.
2. That model has been RETIRED. The available-models catalog returns 0 results for "ling", and the 10 free models actually on offer do not include it (nemotron-3.5-super-vl, cat-jam, longcat-2.5-preview, space-bunny, mimo-v2.6-flash, step-5-preview, deepseek-v4.1-flash, muse-spark-1.3-contributor, nemotron-3.5-lightning, nemotron-3-ultra — all "-free").
3. Both logs carry exactly 4 "Error: Model unavailable: opencode/ling-3.1-flash-free" markers each. mia's last good shift was 2026-10-14 11:22Z (on mimo-v2.6-flash-free); failures from 13:25 that day, every fire since. sofia's last good shift 2026-10-14 09:08; failures from 14:11, every fire since.
4. Scoped precisely: 0 markers for lena, jonas, leon, aylin, dispatcher.
CONSEQUENCE: the standing queue rule "cleared only by those units' own next fire" can NEVER come true — every future fire fails identically. These two reds stand forever until the model is repinned. They are not clearing on their own.
I did NOT change it: identity-run.sh edits and persona/identity changes are outside this seat's remit (you gate identity changes, per the hiring flow).
ASK — one word from you and it is done: repin mia + sofia to an available free model. Options:
(a) opencode/nemotron-3-ultra-free — what lena/jonas/leon/dispatcher already run (majority, consistency);
(b) opencode/mimo-v2.6-flash-free — what mia herself ran successfully right before the switch.
Lower priority, same measurement: each identity's FIRST failure was recorded exit=0 while printing the error (opencode run returned 0 on the model-resolution failure, then 1 on every later call), so the shift-exit guard missed the first failure of each.
Production is 0.4.28. Spend 0.00. No secrets in this message.

- **Close-correction — post-push re-reads on the pushed tree (`e5ab917`), every one taken after the push, none carried, and the run stops here with a clean tree.** Push `b13d625..e5ab917` rc 0, no force, no `git add -A` — the commit carries **exactly this run's two files** (explicit pathspec), **`git rev-list --count origin/main..main` → 0**. `bash tests/test_gladex_monitor.sh` post-push → **28 assertions, 26 passed, 2 failed — the two exactly A12 (`system-status verdict - checks in error: failed-units`) and A30 (`[OK] 0 failed unit(s)` absent)**, i.e. **A3 cleared by the push** (it was `main` 3 ahead of `origin/main` from concurrent identity commits before) and **A12/A30 remain red on the six failed units** — exactly the pre-commit attribution this run's evidence document predicts, with **no new fault**; **A12/A30 are still red because all six units are listed** — the four Class B units (lena/jonas/leon/dispatcher) had **not** yet self-healed at read time, so the predicted "two-unit steady state" is a *future* observation, not a claim made here. `./tools/inbox-status` → **rc 0, `nothing owed (0 unread, 0 open)`**, last reply **dev 147 / prod 112** — **STEP 0 paid at the close, no `agent_to_investor` row written and nothing marked read** (the mia/sofia repin still unanswered); `./tools/version-check` → **`OK: dev=0.4.28 prod=0.4.28 (match)`**; `./tools/queue-source-check` → **rc 0, `OK - one queue: [0.4.365] pointer-only, 111 item line(s) frozen across 319 section(s), 203 PROGRESS bullet(s)`** — R8 clear, **`[0.4.365]`** still the newest (no CHANGELOG heading added this run); `./tools/repo-lint` on **HEAD → rc 0, `all 234 linted file(s) parse clean`, 370 changelog version headings, 370 unique, 0 missing citations**; `./tools/budget-show` → **2026-10, allowance 5.00 / spent 0.00 / remaining 5.00**; `./tools/source-sync-check --env both` → **exit 0, 48 file(s) in sync** (so no promote exists to take); `/healthz` → **200 on :8000 and 200 on :8001**; `systemctl --failed` → **the same six units**, unchanged (read only, no `reset-failed`); `systemctl list-timers tmp-sweep.timer` → first fire still **Sat 2026-10-17 00:15:36 CEST** (**not yet fired**, so the `--apply` decision stays queued); `df -h /` → **49 % used, 49 G free**; `git status --porcelain` → **empty** (this bullet committed, never parked). **Bonus confirmation for the queue's TOP item:** the repin ask (dev 147) offered **(a) `nemotron-3-ultra-free`** and **(b) `mimo-v2.6-flash-free`** — both re-checked this run and **both still `active`** in the catalog, so the ask has **not** gone stale; a full `*-free` catalog read returns **11 active free models**, and `ling-3.1-flash-free` is **absent** from it. This bullet is appended **before commit #2** carries it (CLOSE PROTOCOL rules 1–2); commit #2 stages **`agent-logs/PROGRESS.md` by explicit pathspec only**; the stop-state check after it is `git status --porcelain` **not listing `agent-logs/PROGRESS.md`**, the state the run ends in (rule 3). Nothing reopened: mia/sofia left standing by design (**Class A** — investor-gated), the four Class B units left to self-heal on their own next fire, no `reset-failed`, no `identity-run.sh` edit, no unit or timer change, `hiring/queue/` stayed read-only, no live messages-DB write, no `/tmp` path removed, no DNS write, no mail, no paid API, no key configured; **never `git stash`** in this tree (run 959's measured loss). **Spend 0.00**, free `*-free` models only; the run stops here.

## Summary
**STEP 0 — investor duty (paid first, re-read at close):** 0 unread `investor_to_agent` rows in both DBs, `INBOX.md` 80/80 handled / 0 open, `inbox-status` rc 0 "nothing owed". Last reply is still my own (dev 147 / prod 112) — **the mia/sofia model repin remains unanswered**, so `identity-run.sh` stayed untouched. Production confirmed **0.4.28** (the investor's correction stands; the wrong figure quoted nowhere).
**The step taken — a measured correction to the queue's own closing line.** Every run since ~[0.4.360] has closed with *"`systemctl --failed` → the same two investor-gated units (mia + sofia), unchanged"*, and the dispatcher persona's shift report repeats *"Failed units: 2 (mia, sofia — provider transient)"*. Measured today: **six** units are failed, so that line is wrong on **both** counts — the number and the class:
| class | units | error | lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| **A — persistent, investor-gated** | mia, sofia | `Model unavailable: opencode/ling-3.1-flash-free` | never self-heals |
| **B — transient, provider** | lena, jonas, leon, dispatcher | `[504]` ×3, `[400]` ×1 on `nemotron-3-ultra-free` | self-heals next fire |
Two things the measurement nailed down that the carried line got wrong:
- **Class A is config, not "provider transient."** `opencode.models(query="ling-3.1-flash")` returns **no match** — the model is absent from the catalog (11 free models are active; `nemotron-3-ultra-free` and `mimo-v2.6-flash-free`, the two options the repin ask offers, are **both still active**, so the ask has not gone stale). Both identities are 100 % dark, `Model unavailable` ×5 each, zero successes since 2026-10-14 18:15.
- **Class B self-heals** — the journal proves each of the four failed then succeeded on the adjacent fire (lena, jonas) or had 7/5 consecutive successes (leon, dispatcher). Left alone; no `reset-failed` from this desk.
**What it buys the next run:** A12/A30 are red because of all six units, but only the **two** Class A units are a standing, investor-gated red — so when the Class B four clear, a two-unit red is the *expected* steady state, not a new fault.
**Scope:** docs-only, two files (`agent-logs/failed-units-remeasure-2026-10-16.md` + `PROGRESS.md`), staged by explicit pathspec. No `tools/`/`tests/`/`app/` file touched → no promote needed and none taken (dev+prod at 0.4.28). No `systemctl` change, no `reset-failed`, no `identity-run.sh` edit, no `/tmp` path removed, no DNS write, no mail, `hiring/queue/` read-only. Monitor post-push **26/2 — exactly A12+A30, A3 cleared by the push**. **Spend 0.00**, free `*-free` models only.
**Next in queue:** mia/sofia repin (blocked on the investor's reply); the tmp-sweep `--apply` decision after the first scheduled fire (**2026-10-17 00:15 CEST** — confirmed not yet fired), carrying its four preconditions including `/tmp/chs` protection.
