=== 5. teeth: the same measurements against mutants ===
  PASS: mutant M1 planted exactly once (got 1)
  PASS: M1 detected: without overflow-wrap the page scrolls again at 305 (6px)
  PASS: M1 also fails the static invariant — the source check and the pixel check agree
  PASS: mutant M2 planted exactly once (got 1)
  PASS: M2 really does carry the words — inside a comment
  PASS: M2 detected by the static check: a rule parked in a comment is not a rule
  PASS: M2 detected by the browser too (6px)
  PASS: mutant M3 planted exactly once (got 1)
  PASS: M3 PASSES the static layer on purpose — the rule is still there, scoped, uncommented
  PASS: M3 detected only by measurement: white-space: nowrap on .g-list kills the wrap (485px)
  PASS: all 3 mutants caught (got 3 of 3)

## Builder — run 982 — **run 977's item (a) is discharged as the measurement it asked for — and the measurement refuted the carried figure in three places: the reclaimable set with `/tmp/gopath` protected is **1,245,426,638 B ≈ 1.16 GiB, not the face-value "882 M + 326 M + 263 M + 115 M"**, because **833,066,535 B of `gomodcache`'s 833,091,207 B is hardlinked into the protected `gopath`** (sweeping it frees **24,672 B**, not 882 M); `/tmp/gomod` (**545,532,474 B**, unique inodes, the `GOMODCACHE` of `workflow_validate_test.go:17`) was **missing from the queue's own list entirely**; and "chs — first fallback, not a hard dependency" is **false**: all five alternatives are non-executable, a box-wide `find` shows `/tmp/chs` is the ONLY chrome-headless-shell on the box, so sweeping it flips 7 suites' browser sections to `skip()` while they print `0 failed` (live proof: `php tests/test_start_320.php` → **59/0/0 skipped**, the skip branch never fired)** — docs-only evidence at `agent-logs/tmp-cache-remeasure-2026-10-16.md`, no path removed, no `tools/`/test/`app/` file touched, no CHANGELOG heading, dev+prod at 0.4.28**

- **STEP 0, paid first and re-read at the close — owed nothing, no row written.** `SELECT COUNT(*) … WHERE direction='investor_to_agent' AND read=0` → **0 dev / 0 prod** (table `messages`, column `direction`); `./tools/inbox-status` → **rc 0**, `OK - nothing owed (0 unread, 0 open entries all replied)`, last reply **dev 147 / prod 112**; `INBOX.md` → **80 entries / 80 handled / 0 open** (`grep -n '^## ' INBOX.md | grep -v HANDLED` → no match). Re-read specifically for an answer to run 971's repin ask: the newest row in each DB is still my own reply — **the mia/sofia model repin is still unanswered**, so **A12/A30 stay standing and blocked on the investor** and `identity-run.sh` stays untouched. **Production is 0.4.28** (the investor's 2026-10-05 correction stands; 0.4.29 quoted nowhere): `./tools/version-check` → `OK: dev=0.4.28 prod=0.4.28 (match)`; `./tools/budget-show` → **2026-10, allowance 5.00 / spent 0.00 / remaining 5.00**; `/healthz` → **200 on :8000 and 200 on :8001**; `hiring/queue/` → **2 files, both `status: "proposed"`** — **(93)**/**(97)(a)** remain investor-gated. Spend **0.00**, free `*-free` models only, no key configured, **no secret or PII in any prompt, file or commit**.

- **Queue read, and the step taken: run 977's item (a), the re-measurement the queue gated every sweep on.** The TOP queue item (mia/sofia repin) was re-read first and is still BLOCKED-ON-INVESTOR, so it was not taken. The timer `--apply` decision waits on fires (first scheduled fire **2026-10-17 00:15 CEST**, `systemctl list-timers` measured this run — it has **not fired yet**, so the JSONL still holds only the two manual `mode: dry-run` lines) and on its own reviewer gate, so it was not taken either. What was left open and un-blocked was exactly one thing: *"re-measure before anyone sweeps"*. That is this run, and it was a **read-only** step — no `/tmp` path was removed, renamed or rewritten at any point.

- **The arithmetic, and why the carried number was wrong (all measured 2026-10-16, commands in the evidence file).** `du -sb` de-duplicates hardlinks **within** one invocation, so per-path sums are not additive — the whole defect in the carried figure. One invocation over the sweep set gives **B = 2,078,493,173 B**; one invocation over `gopath` + the same set gives **A ∪ B = 2,624,025,835 B**; with **A = 1,378,599,197** the shared inode mass is **833,066,535 B**, and the cross-check `du -sb gopath gomodcache gomod` → **1,924,156,343 = A + gomod + 24,672** proves the sharing is **entirely** `gomodcache ↔ gopath` and no other pair. Therefore: **reclaim with `gopath` protected = 2,078,493,173 − 833,066,535 = 1,245,426,638 B ≈ 1.16 GiB**, composed `gomod` 545,532,474 + `gocache` 305,301,409 + `chs` 274,063,771 + `chs.zip` 120,504,312 + `gomodcache` **24,672**. Two corrections to the queue line follow, both written into the evidence file: (1) `gomodcache` frees **24,672 B**, i.e. the queue's 882 M was a *cause* note read as a *gain*; (2) `/tmp/gomod` — **18,006 files, unique inodes, candidate at 230 h in the live plan** — was absent from the list, is named by `tools/disk-show` as `go-modcache-gomod … duplicate Go module cache (regenerable)`, and is wired into a live test (`app/src/go/cmd/gladex/commands/workflow_validate_test.go:17` sets `GOMODCACHE=/tmp/gomod`), which puts it in the *system-status re-fetch* cost class, not the local-rebuild class.

- **The finding that would have cost coverage, caught before any `--apply` exists: `/tmp/chs` is the box's only browser.** Every one of the 7 suites' fallback lists was read and every alternative probed for executability — `/root/.cache/puppeteer/chrome-headless-shell/linux-154.0.8037.57/…` (version dir exists, **no executable inside**), `/tmp/opencode/jonas-shift/…` (**absent**), `/usr/bin/chrome-headless-shell`, `/usr/bin/chromium`, `/usr/bin/google-chrome` (**all absent**) — and `find / -maxdepth 6 -name chrome-headless-shell -type f -perm -u+x` returns **exactly one path: `/tmp/chs/…`** (197,979,464 B, mode 0755). The failure mode is silence, not red: each suite calls `skip('no chrome found …')`, so a sweep would print **`0 failed`** with the browser sections gone. Live proof that they run today: `php tests/test_start_320.php` → **`Results: 59 passed, 0 failed, 0 skipped`**, so the skip branch never fired and the browser-side mutant check (`M2 detected by the browser too`) executed against `/tmp/chs`. **Carried to the queue as a hard precondition for the `--apply` step: protect `/tmp/chs` (a `gopath`-style name class) or install an alternative browser first, and keep `/tmp/chs.zip` alongside it** — the live dry-run currently lists **both** as candidates (432.6 h old), and protecting one without the other is how a working binary becomes unrecoverable offline.

- **Live cross-checks, all read-only.** `./tools/tmp-sweep --format json` (dry-run — **no `--apply` exists in this run**) → **730 candidates** with `/tmp/chs 274063771 432.6`, `/tmp/chs.zip 120504312 432.6`, `/tmp/gomod 545532474 230.7`, `/tmp/gomodcache 833091207 230.4`, and the skip list carrying **`/tmp/gopath → protected-cache`** (run 979's rule still live). `./tools/disk-show` → **both mounts below threshold (`/` 48.0 %, `/data` 39.0 %), reclaimable 42,015,931,417 B across 14 paths, 0 unmeasured**, naming the out-of-`/tmp` siblings `/root/go` **1,324,031,577 B**, `/tmp/go-cache` **176,535,488 B**, `/data/gocache` **37,165,078,728 B** (the last two unchanged in class: local rebuild, `/data` out of sweep scope).

- **Scope and safety, one line each:** this run's commit carries **exactly two files — the evidence document `agent-logs/tmp-cache-remeasure-2026-10-16.md` and this file** — staged by **explicit pathspec** read from `git status --porcelain` immediately before staging, **never `git add -A`** on this shared index; **no `tools/`, `tests/`, `app/`, `hiring/queue/`, `app/src/php` or `examples/workflows` file touched** → **no promote is needed and none was taken**, dev and prod untouched at **0.4.28**; **no `/tmp` or `/root` path removed, renamed or rewritten at any point** (every number above comes from `du`/`find`/`stat`/`[ -x ]` and two read-only tool runs; the one test execution was `php tests/test_start_320.php`, which writes nothing outside its own trap); **no `systemctl` change of any kind** — no timer edit, no `--apply` switch (that decision still waits on the 2026-10-17 fire + its own gate), no `reset-failed`, mia's and sofia's failed units left standing on purpose; **no live messages-DB write** (STEP 0 owed nothing → no `agent_to_investor` row, nothing marked read); no DNS write, no mail sent, no `hiring/queue/` write, no paid API, no API key configured; **`/usr/local/sbin/identity-run.sh` untouched**; **never `git stash`** in this tree (run 959's measured loss); spend **0.00**, free `*-free` models only.

- **Queue — next small step (read this first):** **STEP 0 first every run** (today **0 unread dev / 0 prod**, `INBOX.md` **80/80/0 open**). **TOP, still BLOCKED-ON-INVESTOR and unchanged: the mia/sofia model repin** — re-read the investor's reply to **dev 147 / prod 112** first; if they pick an option, the run that picks it up edits **only** the two `MODEL=` lines in `/usr/local/sbin/identity-run.sh` (mia, sofia), then re-reads `systemctl --failed` → **empty** and monitor **A12/A30 cleared** on the units' own first green fire (never a `reset-failed` from this desk); if they do not answer, the two reds stay standing and the queue line must **not** revert to the stale 504 wording. **ITEM (a) IS NOW DISCHARGED AS A MEASUREMENT (this run)** — the number is **1,245,426,638 B ≈ 1.16 GiB**, `gomodcache` is worth **24,672 B**, `gomod` joins the list as a *re-fetch-cost* item, and **`/tmp/chs` + `/tmp/chs.zip` are now a PROTECTED PAIR (only browser on the box)**; the sweep itself stays **unauthorized** — it is part of the same reviewer-gated `--apply` step as the timer. **NEXT CANDIDATE: after the first scheduled fire (2026-10-17 00:15 CEST) read `/data/agent-logs/tmp-sweep-plans.jsonl` and then decide, in its own reviewer-gated step, whether to switch the timer to `--apply`** — that step must now carry **four** preconditions, not two: re-read the JSONL's candidate lists first (never switch blind), the queued `ismount`-in-`measure()` fix, **`/tmp/chs` protection or a replacement browser**, and `/tmp/gopath` (`protected-cache`) plus a live concurrent run's fresh files out of any apply. **Also still open, unchanged:** **`coverage-guard --record`** (**green only**) remains the human act the live `fall: 3` / `stale: 4` waits on (handoff: `agent-logs/coverage-fall-attribution-2026-10-15.md`); the **log-truncation** standing WARN stays unreopened; run 952's **(i)** future-dated-format finding and the remaining queue items stand as written in `[0.4.364]`'s bullet; **(93)**/**(97)(a)** first if the investor answers `hiring/queue/*.json` (**2 proposals**); **§14 renewal** cadence, the LAN-only A/B/C, **SOA MNAME** and Pip's mail-policy research stay NEEDS-INVESTOR; **2026-10-20** §10 #6 re-read with `./tools/download-stats --format json`; **V14b** (`shift-deploy` 132 vs 127) stays a standing load-dependent environmental red. The **`- Live:`** line stays at **124** and this run added no suite. **No `CHANGELOG.md` heading was added** (docs-only step, the run 973 / run 980 precedent), so queue-source R8's newest heading stays **`[0.4.365]`**.

- **Close-state:** this entry is appended **before** the commit that carries it (CLOSE PROTOCOL rule 1) and is never `git checkout --`-ed, staged-only or parked in `/tmp` (rules 2–3); the stop-state check is `git status --porcelain` **not listing `agent-logs/PROGRESS.md`** after the commit. This run makes **one content commit** (the two files above, explicit pathspec), then pushes; **if** a second commit follows (post-push re-reads), this entry's close-correction bullet is **re-appended before commit #2** (rule 2). The close ends with `git rev-list --count origin/main..main` → **0**. No app version moved — the top changelog heading stays **`0.4.28`**. Spend **0.00**, free `*-free` models only.

=== Budget Status ===
Month:       2026-10
Allowance:   5.00 €
Spent: 0.00 € (no October charge in any file — MEASURED 2026-10-12: no public registry source can date a renewal (DENIC RDAP publishes only a "last changed" event, and does so for every .de domain; DENIC whois has no expiry field; the IANA RDAP bootstrap has no "de" entry), so the one open unknown is your billing cadence: monthly 1.50 as brief §4 states, or annual at the 2027-09-20 registration anniversary? Still NEEDS-INVESTOR, REPORT.md §14)
Remaining:   5.00 €

Log:
  - 2026-09-20: init, no domains ordered yet
  - 2026-09-20: investor APPROVED gladex.de (1.50/mo). Awaiting registrar purchase + DNS creds.
  - 2026-09-20: purchase completed same day — RDAP status active (changed 2026-09-20T11:10:57+02:00), DNS wired via pdns wrapper (A apex/dev/git/info/stats/log/team -> 77.90.15.49, MX 10 gladex.de), dig-verified; DOMAIN.md holds evidence.
  - 2026-09-24: ledger narrative corrected — spent-line still said "purchase pending at registrar" 4 days after registration (queued candidate #1); numbers unchanged (1.50/3.50, no money moved), log history above kept verbatim.
  - 2026-10-01: month rolled per brief §4 (balance resets to 5.00 on the 1st, unspent does NOT roll over). September history above is kept verbatim; September closed at spent 1.50 / remaining 3.50.
  - 2026-10-02: October opened at spent 0.00 / remaining 5.00 because no October charge exists in any file on this box — while gladex.de is a known 1.50/mo recurring cost with NO renewal date recorded anywhere. Figure to be corrected the moment the investor answers REPORT.md §14.
  - 2026-10-12: renewal date MEASURED instead of left open, figure unchanged (0.00 / 5.00, no money moved): (1) DENIC RDAP rdap.denic.de/domain/gladex.de returns exactly ONE event — "last changed 2026-09-20T11:10:57+02:00", i.e. the purchase day already on file — and NO registration/expiration event; (2) controls denic.de ("last changed 2024-12-19T13:33:43+01:00") and bund.de ("last changed 2026-06-17T13:11:54+02:00") return the same one-event shape, so this is how DENIC answers for EVERY .de domain, not a gap in ours; (3) DENIC whois (port 43) prints only "Domain: gladex.de" + "Status: connect" — no expiry field; (4) the IANA RDAP bootstrap (data.iana.org/rdap/dns.json, 592 services) contains no "de" entry and no "denic" service, so the standard bootstrap path rdap.org/domain/gladex.de answers 404 (control: example.com answers 302). Conclusion: NO public registry source can date a renewal — only the investor's registrar account can, so REPORT.md §14 stays open with its question narrowed to the billing cadence. Registry-side, the only anchor on file is registration 2026-09-20 (this log line of 2026-09-20, corroborated by the RDAP timestamp), whose first anniversary falls 2027-09-20 — so no registry-side event lands in October 2026.

Nothing reopened: mia/sofia left standing by design, the timer stays **dry-run** (its first scheduled fire is still 2026-10-17 00:15 CEST), no `/tmp` or `/root` path removed by this run at any point, no `--apply`, no `identity-run.sh` edit, no `systemctl` change, no live messages-DB write, `hiring/queue/` read-only (2 proposals `status: "proposed"`), no DNS write, no mail, no paid API, no key configured; **never `git stash`**. Spend **0.00**, free `*-free` models only; the run stops here.

Run complete. Summary:

## STEP 0 (paid first) — nothing owed
- `investor_to_agent` unread: **0 dev / 0 prod** (table `messages`, column `direction`)
- `INBOX.md`: **80 entries / 80 handled / 0 open**; `./tools/inbox-status` → **rc 0**
- Re-checked specifically for a reply to the outstanding mia/sofia repin ask (dev 147 / prod 112): newest row in both DBs is still my own reply → **still unanswered**, so A12/A30 stay standing and `identity-run.sh` stays untouched. No reply row was written because none was owed.

## The one step this run: queue item (a) — "re-measure before anyone sweeps"
Evidence: `repo/agent-logs/tmp-cache-remeasure-2026-10-16.md`. Three carried claims were refuted by measurement:

| Claim in the queue | Measured |
|---|---|
| `gomodcache` 882 M reclaimable | **only 24,672 B** — 833,066,535 B of its 833,091,207 B is hardlinked into the *protected* `/tmp/gopath` |
| list = gomodcache + gocache + chs + chs.zip | **`/tmp/gomod` (545,532,474 B, 18,006 unique inodes) was missing entirely** — and it is the `GOMODCACHE` of a live Go test (`workflow_validate_test.go:17`), i.e. a re-fetch cost, not a free win |
| "`chs` — first fallback, not a hard dependency" | **false**: all 5 alternatives are non-executable, `find / -name chrome-headless-shell -type f -perm -u+x` → **one hit, `/tmp/chs`**; a sweep would flip 7 suites' browser sections to `skip()` while they still print `0 failed` (live proof: `test_start_320` → **59/0/0 skipped**) |

True reclaim with `gopath` protected: **2,078,493,173 − 833,066,535 = 1,245,426,638 B ≈ 1.16 GiB** (one `du` invocation per figure — `du` dedups hardlinks within an invocation, which is exactly what made the old sum wrong).

## Close protocol
- Entry appended **before** commit #1, close-correction bullet appended **before** commit #2 — `3ccb4d0` + `b13d625`, both pushed.
- `git status --porcelain` → **empty**, `origin/main..main` → **0**, monitor **26/28** (only A12+A30, the investor-gated pair; A3/A15 cleared by the push), version 0.4.28/0.4.28, healthz 200/200, budget **5.00 / 0.00 / 5.00**.

**Queue for the next run:** mia/sofia repin (top, blocked on investor) → then the timer `--apply` decision after its first fire (2026-10-17 00:15 CEST), now with **four** preconditions: re-read the JSONL, the queued `ismount` fix, **`/tmp/chs` protection or a replacement browser**, and `gopath` + live run files out of any apply. Spend **0.00**, free `*-free` models only.
