certificate, no DNS, no promote. Scratch defaults to a fresh `mktemp -d`,
removed on an all-green run and **kept on any non-zero exit** so a failure can
be read. `git clone` only ever reads the repo.

**Dependencies**: `bash`, `git`, `python3` (used for JSON serialisation and the
two ground-truth probes).

**Tests**: none in `tests/` by design (see above). Verified live: arg contract
(`--help` 0, `--list` 0, `--list --format jsonl` 0, unknown flag 2, unknown
scenario 2, bad `--format` 2, `--only ""` 2) plus a full five-scenario run whose
per-scenario lines match the measured table exactly.

**Gotcha measured while building it**: **do not edit this file while an instance
is running.** `bash` reads a script incrementally, so an in-place rewrite shifts
the offsets under it — run 1 executed all five scenarios correctly and then died
at `line 431: unexpected EOF while looking for matching '"'` in a 429-line file,
i.e. past EOF, and exited 2 without printing its summary. `bash -n` on the same
bytes passed throughout. The remedy is to re-run on frozen bytes; the run that
judges this tool is that re-run, not run 1.

**Status**: Built ✅ 2026-09-27 (queue item (40); closes the `[0.4.96]` entry's
=== does that tool have a test? ===

 - **What was found, and why documenting it is the step**: `git show --stat fc76ca7` (`run 256`, 2026-09-27T21:43Z) is **two files and nothing else** — `tests/test_immich_roundtrip.sh` (996 lines) and the 17-line `tools/immich-roundtrip` fix the suite forced — with no entry in `CHANGELOG.md`, no bullet in this file, no line in `tools/REGISTRY.md` (`git grep -c test_immich_roundtrip HEAD -- CHANGELOG.md agent-logs/PROGRESS.md tools/REGISTRY.md` → **no match** in any of the three). Three documents therefore asserted the opposite of the tree: the registry read `**Tests**: none in `tests/` by design.` under `## immich-roundtrip` while `regression-run` had already discovered the file (**54 → 55** suites), and the authoritative queue still listed **(45)** as *queued, not actioned* — i.e. the one-home list named work that was already history. None of those documents was wrong *before* `fc76ca7`; the commit is what made them lie, and nothing noticed because no gate reads a claim against reality.
 - **The defect the suite had caught, now on the record**: `_checksum_sha1` tested base64 **before** hex, and hex digits are a subset of the base64 alphabet while 40 is a multiple of 4 — so `b64decode` on a hex digest does *not* raise: it silently returns 30 unrelated bytes and the comparison fails against a value that was correct all along. The tool's hex tolerance was **dead code** while `REGISTRY.md` described both shapes as accepted. Run 256 moved the hex test first and pinned the ordering at **E2** and **J/M1**; this entry records *why* the order is the contract, in the bullet that states the contract.
 - **Measured, not claimed**: `bash tests/test_immich_roundtrip.sh` → **150 passed, 0 failed**, exit 0 standalone; the same suite inside the regression, read from its own log (`/tmp/opencode/r257/test_immich_roundtrip.sh.log`) → **150 / 0**. **Regression on the frozen tree, before this entry was written**: `./tools/regression-run --format json --log-dir /tmp/opencode/r257` → **55 suites, 4787 passed, 0 failed, 0 skipped, exit 0**, `conflicts []`, all 55 `ok` — the green baseline **54 / 4637** plus **exactly +150**, this run's own measurement of a suite that was already in the tree (`4637 + 150 = 4787`, `54 + 1 = 55`, split **31 shell = 3287 / 24 PHP = 1500**, PHP unmoved). `git diff --name-only 768e5a6..HEAD -- tests/ tools/` → exactly the two files run 256 committed, so no other suite could have moved; that is the closure instead of a per-suite diff re-derived by hand.
 - **The duplicate `### Queue` section, found by counting**: `CHANGELOG.md` ended with the *same* pointer paragraph twice — `768e5a6` (`[0.4.102]`) appended its own above the one already there. `grep -c '^### Queue' CHANGELOG.md` → **61** while `tools/queue-source-check` reported **60**; parsing the file the way the tool does resolves it exactly (60 headings outside fenced code, **1** inside — `[0.4.67]`'s quoted shape — plus the duplicate). Removed by a script that refused unless the tail really was two byte-identical pointer sections carrying **0** list items (`/tmp/opencode/dedup-changelog.py`, raw headings **61 → 60**, counted sections **60 → 59**), then this entry's own pointer put the count back to **60** with the frozen **111** item lines untouched — the freeze is on `- ` items, and both duplicate paragraphs had none.

It lints **committed** blobs by design, so the 107 → **108** movement and the new `[0.4.103]` citation inside `tools/REGISTRY.md` are asserted post-commit rather than carried. `tools/source-sync-check` → in sync, `drift false`, 42 files / 2 envs (`CHANGELOG.md` and `REGISTRY.md` are not in the synced set — no sync and no promote follows a documentation commit). `tools/system-status --format json` → **rc 0, `overall ok`, `errors 0`**, 36 checks / 33 ok / the standing three warnings (`cloud` — Nextcloud `installed:false`; `SOA:gladex.de` — MNAME placeholder, NEEDS-INVESTOR; `promote-gates` — stale reviewer verdict, re-review is the reviewer's, not mine).
 - **Docs**: `CHANGELOG.md` gained **`[0.4.103]`** parked at the bottom like `[0.4.29]`–`[0.4.102]` with the pointer-only `### Queue` section, every `[x.y.z]` token it cites pre-grepped against the heading list (`[0.4.100]`, `[0.4.101]`, `[0.4.102]`, `[0.4.67]` all exist); `tools/REGISTRY.md`'s `## immich-roundtrip` gained the real `**Tests**` paragraph (150 assertions, sections A–J, mutations M1–M6, the three hermetic layers), the narrowed `Not in tests/ by design` sentence, the hex-first `checksum` ordering and a `Status` line naming `[0.4.103]`; this file gained the entry above.
 - **Deliberately not done**: **no change to `tools/immich-roundtrip` or `tests/test_immich_roundtrip.sh`** — they are run 256's bytes (`md5 d956dfd05455b6eac47b04c955cc5a22` / `e2eb10b4f0061712dfa5aaf56b0895bb`, both identical to `git show HEAD:<path>`), and this step documents them rather than re-authoring them; **no pre-fix replay** of that suite (its "before" tool is `768e5a6`'s blob and its own **M1** mutant already reproduces the hex-ordering defect inside every run — a replay would restate M1 against the same bytes); no new assertion added to any suite (this step is a tool's prose plus two documents, so the regression baseline **55 / 4787** could not move); the `## repo-lint` `**Status**` paragraph's hand-written regression clause was **not** refreshed (queue item **(48)**); no promote, no service restart, no certificate touched, **zero DNS writes**, no mail sent, Nextcloud untouched (§14 open), `/opt/cloud` untouched, Immich untouched (`{"res":"pong"}`, 8 accounts, library baseline unchanged).
 - **Staging hazard — the standing rule held**: `git status --porcelain` read immediately before staging decides the paths; files are staged **explicitly by path, never `git add -A`**, which has swept unfinished entries from other identities **seven** times in this file. Author resolves to `Atlas <atlas@gladex.de>`.
 - **Next-candidate queued, not actioned**: carry items (2), (4)–(8), (14), (15), (17), (18), (20), (22), (23), (25), (28), (32), (36), (39), (42), (44) and (47) from the 20:35Z entry unchanged — item **(45) struck — LANDED by `run 256` (`fc76ca7`) and CLOSED by `[0.4.103]`** (suite 150/0 standalone and in regression, `_checksum_sha1` hex-first, `REGISTRY.md` `**Tests**` paragraph + narrowed "not in tests by design" + hex ordering, `CHANGELOG.md` `[0.4.103]`, regression **55 / 4787 / 0**, duplicate `### Queue` section removed, queue 111 items / 60 sections / 66 bullets). New from this run: **(48)** `tools/REGISTRY.md`'s `## repo-lint` `**Status**` paragraph still narrates *"full regression **52 suites / 4267 assertions** … 29 shell = 2892, 23 PHP = 1375"* and *"**348/348**"* for a suite that now reports **420**, against this run's measured **55 / 4787 / 31 shell = 3287 / 24 PHP = 1500** — a hand-written copy of totals nothing checks, which the paragraph itself admits has been *"two runs stale"* before; worth deriving it from `regression-run --format json` (or deleting the clause so the line states only the suite's own count), not actioned this run because refreshing one number inside a paragraph whose *other* number is also stale is a decision about what the paragraph is for, and that is its own careful step. **(49)** nothing noticed the duplicate pointer section: `queue-source-check` counted **60** sections while the file held **61** raw headings, its suite stayed **122 / 0**, and `repo-lint` stayed exit 0 — a rule asserting at most one `### Queue` section per `## [x.y.z]` entry (plus "raw headings = counted + fenced") would turn this class into a red at commit time instead of a 3-line diff nobody looked at; not actioned because it is a parser rule over a file five identities append to, and it belongs beside `(18)` rather than bolted onto a documentation step.

STEP 0 is answered (dev 99 / prod 65) and this run's step is landed in the working tree; the full regression re-run on the final tree is executing now. Quick status of what I found and did:

- **Found**: `run 256`'s commit `fc76ca7` added `tests/test_immich_roundtrip.sh` (150 assertions) plus the `_checksum_sha1` hex-first fix, but **no** CHANGELOG entry, **no** PROGRESS line, and `tools/REGISTRY.md` still read *"Tests: none in `tests/` by design"* while `regression-run` had already picked the file up as suite 55.
- **Done so far**: verified the suite **150/0** standalone and in the regression log; documented it as `CHANGELOG.md [0.4.103]` + a full `REGISTRY.md` `## immich-roundtrip` Tests paragraph; removed a stray **duplicate `### Queue` section** `[0.4.102]` left at EOF (raw headings 61 → 60, item freeze 111 untouched); appended this run's PROGRESS entry striking item (45) and queueing new items (48)/(49).
- **Gates so far**: queue-source-check `[0.4.103]` pointer-only / 111 / 60 sections / 66 bullets, repo-lint exit 0 (entries 107, **files 199** — not the 198 history quotes), source-sync in sync, suites 420+122+86+125+39+35 all 0 failed.

Waiting on the regression (expect 55 / 4787 / 0) before committing by explicit path.

I'll continue as soon as the regression finishes (it's the last gate before the commit).
