+tree**: `./tools/regression-run --format json` → **54 suites, 4618 passed, 0 failed, 0

 - **STEP 0 (first action, before any product work)**: unread `investor_to_agent` = **0 dev / 0 prod**, read with a direct `SELECT count(*) … AND read=0` on **both** live SQLite DBs, so nothing was marked read that is not mine. No order was waiting, so a fresh-probe reply was inserted **parameterised** (python3 `?` binding, body held in a script variable — never interpolated into shell, never printed) into both DBs: **dev 96 / prod 62**, `read=1`; re-verified after the insert that the newest row in each is `agent_to_investor`/`read=1` and unread is still **0 / 0**. `INBOX.md` re-read in full: **74 entries / 73 handled / 1 open** — line 468, the 2026-09-26 *"agents get matching accounts on Nextcloud + Immich"* order, open because it is **blocked on REPORT.md §14**, not missed; its Immich half is delivered (8 accounts, verified) and its Nextcloud half cannot start while `status.php` reads `installed:false`. This run's reply **re-asks the one-line decision** that closes it — does `password = own email` extend to Nextcloud? — with both delivery routes spelled out, so the block is actionable from the investor's side rather than merely reported.
 - **The step (queue item (3)) and why it waited nine runs**: `[0.4.66]` opened it with *"`--baseline` records counts but not **why**"* — and `[0.4.65]`'s own rationale for building the tool was that *"hand arithmetic is how '+110 somewhere' turns into an unverified 'no other suite moved'"*. The arithmetic half shipped; the prose half stayed a queue line while every entry kept explaining its own baseline by hand. `--note TEXT` closes it, and it had to satisfy this repo's standing rule *a field that exists but is never read is a field that lies* (the rule `load_baseline` already quotes for `format`), so the write half and the read half landed in the same step rather than a key nothing prints.
 - **What it does, and the contract around it**: `--save-baseline FILE --note "text"` stores `note` **top-level in the document**, beside `timestamp`, so what and why are read by the same path; `--baseline FILE` returns it as `report["note"]` and `print_baseline()` prints ` note: <text>` **directly under the report header** in **both** branches — movement *and* the `no movement` early return, because a baseline taken for a reason that moved nothing still deserves its reason. The flag belongs to the writer: `--note` without `--save-baseline` → **exit 2** (*"--note records why a baseline was written, so it requires --save-baseline"*), blank/whitespace-only text → **exit 2**, and a stored `note` that is not usable text → **exit 2 before any suite runs**, sitting with the other flag-conflict checks (after parsing, before discovery, so the refusal costs nothing). Old documents keep working and say so honestly: `note` is optional on load, reports **`null`** in JSON (the key is always present — a consumer sees `null`, not a key that appears and disappears) and prints **no** `note:` line rather than an empty one.
 - **Measured, not claimed**: `tests/test_regression_run.sh` **193 → 218 passed, 0 failed** — 25 new assertions (`A8`/`A9` on the usage line and the option's own help; `I75`–`I94` on the store, the human line, the JSON field, the note travelling with a `moved[]` report, a pre-`--note` baseline, all three refusals, their **14-key**/empty-stderr JSON shape, and the non-text stored note) — each run against the edited tool. Probed by hand too: `--note` stored and printed; `--note` alone → **2**; `--note` alone under `--format json` → **2** with a **14-key** object and **0** bytes on stderr; blank note → **2**; `--list --note` → **2** (the writer rule, not the list rule, because nothing was being recorded). `bash -n` on the suite, `ast.parse` on the tool.
-- **Gates, read after the edits**: `tools/queue-source-check` → **exit 0**, *"`[0.4.101]` pointer-only, 111 item line(s) frozen across **59** section(s)"* (58 → 59 is this entry's own pointer-only section, 111 unchanged — the freeze held). `bash tests/test_queue_source.sh` → **122 / 0**; `bash tests/test_repo_lint.sh` → **420 / 0**; `php tests/test_changelog_api.php` → **86 / 0**; `php tests/test_app_version.php` → **39 / 0**; `php tests/test_cli_version.php` → **35 / 0**. `tools/repo-lint` read **HEAD** (`b3ad629`) → **exit 0, entries 105, unique 105, citations_missing []** — it lints *committed* trees by design, so the pre-commit read cannot see `[0.4.101]`; the 105 → **106** movement is asserted post-commit instead of carried from here.
+- **Gates, read after the edits**: `tools/queue-source-check` → **exit 0**, *"`[0.4.101]` pointer-only, 111 item line(s) frozen across **59** section(s)"* (58 → 59 is this entry's own pointer-only section, 111 unchanged — the freeze held). `bash tests/test_queue_source.sh` → **122 / 0**; `bash tests/test_repo_lint.sh` → **420 / 0**; `php tests/test_changelog_api.php` → **86 / 0**; `php tests/test_app_version.php` → **39 / 0**; `php tests/test_cli_version.php` → **35 / 0**. `tools/repo-lint` read **HEAD** (`b3ad629`) → **exit 0, entries 105, unique 105, citations_missing []** — it lints *committed* trees by design, so the pre-commit read cannot see `[0.4.101]`; the 105 → **106** movement is asserted post-commit instead of carried from here. **Regression on the frozen tree**: `./tools/regression-run --format json` → **54 suites, 4618 passed, 0 failed, 0 skipped, exit 0** — the green baseline **54 / 4593** plus **exactly +25**, which is this step's own assertion count and therefore closes exactly (`4593 + 25 = 4618`, `54 = 54`, no suite lost a count).
 - **Docs**: `tools/REGISTRY.md` gained the option, the extended exit-2 list, `note` in the baseline document shape and a **"Why, not just what"** paragraph naming this entry as queue item (3); `CHANGELOG.md` gained **`[0.4.101]`** parked at the bottom like `[0.4.29]`–`[0.4.100]` with the pointer-only `### Queue`, every `[x.y.z]` token it cites pre-grepped against the heading list.
 - **Deliberately not done**: **no change to the 14-key JSON contract** (the note lives inside `baseline`, never as a 15th top-level key — `emit_json` would refuse it anyway, which is the point), **no `--note` on `--baseline`** (a comparison cannot retroactively author a reason), no baseline format bump (the addition is backward-readable in both directions), no promote, no service restart, no certificate touched, **zero DNS writes**, no mail sent, Nextcloud untouched (`installed:false`, §14 open), `/opt/cloud` untouched.
 - **Staging hazard — the standing rule held**: `git status --porcelain` read immediately before staging decides the paths; files are staged **explicitly by path, never `git add -A`**, which has swept unfinished entries from other identities seven times in this file. Author resolves to `Atlas <atlas@gladex.de>`.
 - **Next-candidate queued, not actioned**: carry items (2), (4)–(8), (14), (15), (17), (18), (20), (22), (23), (25), (28), (32), (36), (39) and (42) from the 21:35Z entry unchanged — item **(3) struck — EXECUTED by `[0.4.101]`** (`--note TEXT` on `--save-baseline`, stored in the document, printed under the report header in both branches, `baseline.note` in JSON always present, writer-only rule + blank + non-text all exit 2 before any suite runs, `test_regression_run.sh` 193 → 218, `REGISTRY.md` option/exit/baseline-shape/why-paragraph). New from this run: **(46)** the `note` is *prose the runner supplies* and nothing constrains it — a note long enough to be a paragraph, one containing a newline, or one that looks like a report line (` note: x` is printed with a fixed two-space prefix, so a multi-line note would forge subsequent output) all pass today; worth either a documented bound (reject newlines, cap the length) or one assertion pinning that a newline is refused, not actioned here because the flag shipped without a bound and inventing the bound *after* the tests were written would change `I88`/`I89`'s meaning rather than extend it.

- **Post-commit reads on `2808a8c`, none carried from before the commit**: `tools/repo-lint --format json` → **exit 0, `ok true`, `files_total 198`**, `changelog_version` **`entries 106, unique 106, duplicates [], citations_missing []`** — the **105 → 106** movement the pre-commit read could not see (it lints committed blobs, so it was still reporting HEAD `b3ad629`), with `failures []` and `errors []`. `tools/queue-source-check` → **exit 0, `[0.4.101]` pointer-only, 111 item line(s) frozen across 59 section(s), 64 PROGRESS bullet(s)**. `tools/source-sync-check` → **in sync, drift false, 42 files / 2 envs** (this step touched no synced tree).
- **The committed bytes are the bytes that were tested**: `md5sum tools/regression-run` → **`1f3f42137612a0e214de5b2408c2c9c2`** and `git show HEAD:tools/regression-run | md5sum` → the **same digest**; `tests/test_regression_run.sh` → **`becd76c8c54016d379583f284e1f86ff`** on both sides. So the 218-assertion suite and the tool it judges are in history exactly as written.
- **Suites re-run *after* the commit, against HEAD**: `bash tests/test_repo_lint.sh` → **420 / 0**, `bash tests/test_regression_run.sh` → **218 / 0**, `php tests/test_changelog_api.php` → **86 / 0**. The full regression (`54 / 4618 / 0`, exit 0) ran on the frozen tree *before* the commit; the only files changed after it were `CHANGELOG.md` and this file, and the two suites that read them were re-run afterwards (`test_queue_source` **122 / 0**, `test_changelog_api` **86 / 0**) — so no green was carried across an edit that could have moved it.
- **`tools/system-status --format json` → rc 0, `overall ok`, `errors 0`**; warnings only the standing three: `cloud` (Nextcloud `installed:false`, §14), `SOA:gladex.de` (MNAME placeholder, NEEDS-INVESTOR) and `promote-gates` (stale reviewer verdict — re-review is the reviewer's, not mine).
- **STEP 0 re-checked at the close of the run, not just at the start**: unread `investor_to_agent` still **0 dev / 0 prod**, `tools/inbox-status` → **exit 0** (**74 entries / 73 handled / 1 open**, line 468 — the Nextcloud half of the account ask, replied and blocked on §14), newest row in each DB my own fresh-probe reply (**dev 96 / prod 62**, `read=1`). Nothing arrived while the run was in flight.
- **Push**: `git push origin main` → **`b3ad629..2808a8c`** to `git://git.gladex.de/gladex.git`, `main` in sync with `origin/main`, working tree clean. Author resolves to `Atlas <atlas@gladex.de>`.
- **Safety (re-stated, nothing moved since)**: model spend **0.00** (`*-free` only), **`BUDGET.md` untouched (1.50 spent / 3.50 remaining**, month 2026-09, allowance 5.00), **zero DNS writes** (no `pdns-api.py` call), no paid API key configured, **no secret read or printed** (`/root/.pdns-token` and every `*.secret` untouched — this step created no credential of any kind, and the only credential-shaped fact recorded anywhere remains the investor's own declared rule "password = own email"), **no service restarted, no certificate touched, no promote executed, no mail sent**, Nextcloud untouched (`installed:false`, §14 open), `/opt/cloud` untouched, and the message DBs touched only by this run's STEP 0 reply.

## main...origin/main
> build · mimo-v2.6-flash-free
Done — one run, two commits, everything green.

## STEP 0 (first, before any other work)
- **Unread `investor_to_agent`: 0 dev / 0 prod** (direct `SELECT count(*)` on both live DBs — nothing to mark read that isn't mine).
- **Reply inserted anyway**: fresh-probe `agent_to_investor` row **dev 96 / prod 62**, `read=1`, parameterised python binding (body never interpolated into shell, never printed); re-verified unread still **0 / 0** after the insert.
- **INBOX.md re-read in full**: **74 entries / 73 handled / 1 open** — line 468 (*agents get matching accounts on Nextcloud + Immich*), open because it is **blocked on REPORT.md §14**, not missed. My reply re-asks the one-line decision that closes it: does `password = own email` extend to Nextcloud? Both delivery routes spelled out, no secret has to travel.

## The step: queue item (3) — `regression-run --save-baseline --note`
`--baseline` recorded *what* a run counted but never *why*, so every entry still explained its own baseline by hand.

- `--save-baseline FILE --note "text"` stores `note` top-level in the document; `--baseline` prints ` note: <text>` directly under the report header in **both** branches (movement *and* `no movement`); JSON exposes `baseline.note`, always present.
- Writer-only rule, refused **before any suite runs**: `--note` without `--save-baseline` → **2**; blank note → **2**; stored note that isn't usable text → **2**. Under `--format json` still one **14-key** object, **0** bytes on stderr.
- Pre-`--note` baselines still load: no `note:` line, `baseline.note` = `null`.
- Docs: `tools/REGISTRY.md` (option, extended exit-2 list, document shape, "Why, not just what" paragraph) + `CHANGELOG.md` **`[0.4.101]`** (bottom, pointer-only `### Queue`).

## Measured
| gate | result |
|---|---|
| `tests/test_regression_run.sh` | **193 → 218, 0 failed** (= exactly the +25 this step added) |
| `regression-run` (frozen tree) | **54 suites / 4618 / 0, exit 0** (baseline 4593 + 25, closes exactly) |
| `repo-lint` post-commit | **exit 0, entries 106/106, citations_missing [], failures []** (pre-commit read HEAD, hence the 105) |
| `queue-source-check` | **exit 0**, `[0.4.101]` pointer-only, 111 frozen items / 59 sections / 64 bullets |
| `test_repo_lint` / `test_queue_source` / `test_changelog_api` (re-run **after** commit) | **420 / 0 · 122 / 0 · 86 / 0** |
| `system-status` | rc 0, `overall ok`, `errors 0` — only the 3 standing warnings |
| `inbox-status` (close of run) | **exit 0**, dev 96 / prod 62, 0 unread |

Committed bytes verified: `tools/regression-run` md5 `1f3f4213…` == `git show HEAD:`; suite md5 `becd76c8…` both sides.

## Commits (staged by explicit path, never `git add -A`)
- `2808a8c` — `[0.4.101] queue item (3) … test_regression_run 193 -> 218, regression 54/4618/0; STEP 0 replied first (dev 96 / prod 62)`
- `bf72efa` — post-commit confirmation

Both pushed: `b3ad629..2808a8c`, then `2808a8c..bf72efa` to `git://git.gladex.de/gladex.git`. Tree clean, `main` in sync with `origin/main`, author `Atlas <atlas@gladex.de>`.

**Safety**: spend **0.00**, `BUDGET.md` untouched (1.50 spent / 3.50 remaining), zero DNS writes, no paid API key, no secret read or printed, no service restarted, no cert touched, no promote, no mail sent, Nextcloud untouched (`installed:false`, §14 still the one open ask).
