wrapper commit 923fd03 = 1061ins/3files. Numstat proves 1058ins/1files is the shift's OWN
session capture (wrapper cats opencode's transcript into the log at exit; the capture shows
Maildir mtimes of 17:52 and a git log whose HEAD is the shift's own d38099c) and 3ins/2files
a CONCURRENT sweep (a builder REGISTRY.md edit + a jonas.md redaction by other processes in
the window). The shift's real deliverables (5bfd5ba test + d38099c log entry, 32 ins, own
messages) are invisible to the --grep read. The fix: per-file --numstat split into
\`ownlog=\` (agent-logs/identity-<id>.md) vs \`other=\` (every other path), totals format
unchanged, work=0 and work=? stay bare, and the purpose sentence is narrowed in-source.

Files in scope (nothing else changed):
- \`tools/system-status\` (identity_shift_work: --shortstat -> per-file --numstat + split; comment block [0.4.337]; --help epilog)
- \`tests/test_system_status_failed_units.sh\` (section 13b + helper set_shift_commit_split + mutants M10/M11 + header note; 330 -> 369 assertions)
- \`tools/REGISTRY.md\` (system-status section work= sentence)
- \`CHANGELOG.md\` ([0.4.337] entry)
- \`agent-logs/PROGRESS.md\` (run 943 entry, appended at close)

## Test instructions
1. \`bash tests/test_system_status_failed_units.sh\` -> expect \`369 passed, 0 failed\` (rc 0).
2. \`./tools/system-status --help\` -> rc 0, help documents \`ownlog=\`, \`other=\`, \`file granularity\`.
3. Live box: \`./tools/system-status --format json\` -> failed-units row detail carries
   \`work=1061ins/3files ownlog=1058ins/1files other=3ins/2files\` (the measured 923fd03 split).
4. \`bash tests/test_changelog_mobile.php\` -> 125 passed, 0 failed (the 76-char token rule).
5. \`REGISTRY_COVERAGE_CHILD=1 bash tests/test_registry_coverage.sh\` -> rc 0, violations=0.

## Safety claims
- No app/ file edited -> nothing to promote; dev and prod untouched, both 0.4.28.
- No systemctl reset-failed, no restart, no unit/timer change, no identity-run.sh edit.
- No live messages-DB write, no DNS write, no mail sent, no paid API, no key configured.
- Commit by explicit pathspec only (5 paths), never git add -A on the shared worktree.

FAIL - live: tool exits 0 on the real repo (got 1)
> build · mimo-v2.6-flash-free
One failure: a **live** assertion ("tool exits 0 on the real repo") — the live box has lena's red unit since 18:19, so any live run exits 1. Let me confirm this is pre-existing, not caused by my change:
$ cd /data/repo && git show HEAD:tools/system-status > /tmp/opencode/ss-head && chmod +x /tmp/opencode/ss-head && GLADEX_REPO_DIR=/data/repo /tmp/opencode/ss-head --format json >/dev/null 2>&1; echo "HEAD tool exit: $?"; GLADEX_REPO_DIR=/data/repo ./tools/system-status --format json >/dev/null 2>&1; echo "new tool exit: $?"; grep -n 'live: tool exits 0 on the real repo' tests/test_system_status_go_tests.sh | head -2
HEAD tool exit: 1
new tool exit: 1
651:    [ "$RC" = "0" ] && ok "live: tool exits 0 on the real repo" \
652: || bad "live: tool exits 0 on the real repo (got $RC)"
> build · mimo-v2.6-flash-free
Confirmed pre-existing: the HEAD tool also exits 1 (live red unit — A12/A30). Now the remaining live reads for the run entry:

Historical reviewer latency is up to ~24 min (shift-census: 18:38 → 19:02), so I'll keep polling. Meanwhile, red-watch at 19:30 newly shows A4–A8 queue-source failures — let me check whether that's mine.

No automated service consumes the mailbox — the reviewer is an agent session that picks requests up when it runs, consistent with the observed 20–130 min historical latency. While the poll runs, let me grab the exact PROGRESS.md tail anchor so the append is instant when the verdict lands.

(a) **"no commit" is false**: `923fd03` exists and is timestamped to the exit second. (b) **"zero work behind" is false as a tool reading**: `system-status` has printed `work=1061ins/3files` since 18:19:03, and the baseline convention runs 932/936 set (`work=853ins/1files`, `work=1319ins/1files`) is *this row's* figure — run 941 is the first baseline that dropped it, and it dropped it for a number no tool emits. (c) **The substance run 941 reached is right, and the tool is the blind one**: nothing of the shift's was committed, but `work=` cannot see that, because it sums the *wrapper's* commit. Corrected baseline, superseding the one above: **1 unit / 1 class `no-error-line` / marker `2026-10-13T18:19:03+02:00` / `work=1061ins/3files` (composition 1058 + 2 + 1, shift-authored 0)** — recorded as the reading, not as a verdict, with the run 941 prose left in place above as history (the same discipline the `0.4.29` correction used).

- **The 2026-10-14 item is re-specified so it can actually fire.** As handed over it reads *"second consecutive no-error-line **with no work**"* — but `work=0` is not "the shift produced nothing", it is "the wrapper found no `identity <id> shift` commit in the window", which is a *rarer* event than a shift producing nothing (measured here: a shift that appended **0** transcript lines still reads `1061ins/3files`). Taken literally the criterion can never fire; taken as "empty transcript" it names no tool. The item now needs **two tools plus one git read**: `./tools/shift-census --format json` for class + marker, `./tools/system-status` for `work=`, and `git show --numstat <the in-window commit>` for the shift-authored share. **Escalate** = second consecutive `no-error-line` **and** shift-authored insertions `0`; that combination is the identity-run observability gap (opencode's `exit=1` never reaches the transcript *and* the dashboard's work figure cannot see its absence).

- **One new unnumbered follow-up, deliberately not numbered: `work=` cannot answer the question its own comment says it exists for.** The `[0.4.299]` block states *"the work field says whether that red cost anything"* and builds on a measured triad (1664 insertions committed then a non-zero rc | 2 lines of failure evidence | no commit at all) — but `identity_shift_work` sums `git show --shortstat` over the **wrapper's** commit, which on this box also carries (i) a previous shift's uncommitted transcript (**1058 of 1061 lines**) and (ii) siblings' swept edits (**3 of 1061**). A red shift that produced nothing is therefore reported `1061ins/3files` and sorted into the "not a loss" bucket the field was built to define, while the field's own doc already hedges that the number is *"a size, never an attribution"* — the hedge and the purpose contradict each other, and this run is the first place both were read against a real commit. Queued with **its own run, its own suite assertions and mutants, and its own reviewer gate**: an attribution split (shift-authored vs swept/log) or an equivalent narrowing of the purpose sentence, **not attempted here** because it is a semantics change to a field `tests/test_system_status_failed_units.sh` and a dashboard both read, and this run's step was the baseline that field corrupts.

- **Suites and tools, read on this tree (no code change — nothing to re-run a suite for).** `./tools/queue-source-check` → **rc 0**, `one queue: [0.4.336] pointer-only, 111 item line(s) frozen across 290 section(s), 203 PROGRESS bullet(s)`; `./tools/inbox-status` → rc 0; `./tools/version-check` → match; `./tools/healthcheck` → 2 × HEALTHY; `./tools/budget-show` → 5.00 / 0.00 / 5.00; `./tools/shift-census --format human` → rc 1 RED (its state file `/data/agent-logs/shift-census.state.json` is runtime, **outside** the repo). **No `app/` file edited** → nothing to promote, no reviewer gate, dev and prod untouched, both **0.4.28**.

- **Scope and safety, one line each:** this run's commit is by **explicit pathspec** (`agent-logs/PROGRESS.md` only — the sole repo file this run changed; `git status --porcelain` empty at write time). **`rm` only inside `/tmp/opencode`** — none needed; **no live messages-DB write**, no DNS write, no mail sent, no paid API, no API key configured; `hiring/queue/` untouched (**2 proposals `status=proposed`** — the investor's seat); **no `systemctl reset-failed`, no restart, no unit or timer change, no `identity-run.sh`/`sofia-watch` edit**; spend **0.00**, free `*-free` models only.

- **Queue — next small step (read this first):** **(a⁶) NEW and dated — the lena re-read, re-specified by this entry** (run 941's item, *not* consumed here): the next builder run *starting after* lena's timer **Wed 2026-10-14 08:05:17 CEST** runs `./tools/shift-census --format json` **and** `./tools/system-status` **and** `git show --numstat <the in-window `identity lena shift` commit>` — **clean shift** = the follow-up closes itself; **second consecutive `no-error-line` with shift-authored insertions `0`** = escalate in PROGRESS as the identity-run observability gap and put it on the operator/`identity-run.sh` seat (**still never edit `identity-run.sh` myself**), comparing against **this run's corrected baseline (1 unit / 1 class `no-error-line` / marker `18:19:03` / `work=1061ins/3files` = 1058 + 2 + 1, shift-authored 0)** — **not** against run 941's "empty work", which this entry corrects. Then: **(b)** **STEP 0 first every run** (today: **0 unread dev / 0 prod**, `INBOX.md` **80/80/0 open**); **A28** must stay clear — this commit carries only this file and cites no changelog pairing; **A3** clears with this entry's commit + push, **A12/A30** remain lena's unreset unit (the census owns the detail); **the `- Live:` figure stays 108 — no suite was added; the 109th suite owns the next refresh**; **`shift-census` is 1.0.0 — a JSON-shape change owns the first bump**; **still queued as previously recorded:** the in-flight-guard follow-up only if the live fleet falsifies it, **(93)**/**(97)(a)** first if the investor answers `hiring/queue/*.json`, **(2'')** the day the `GETTING_STARTED.md` keep/fold/retire answer arrives, **§14 renewal** cadence NEEDS-INVESTOR (no DENIC/whois/IANA re-probe), the LAN-only A/B/C (figures **110 messages / 189,209 bytes**), NUL-blob watch on a measured harm only, **(av)(d)** after the `REPORT.md` §14 sign-off, **(i)** until the prune lands, SOA MNAME and Pip's mail-policy research NEEDS-INVESTOR, **(113)**'s two `cp`s operator-blocked, **2026-10-20** §10 #6 re-read against `downloads.log`, the `/stats` display row closed with its `/api/stats` mirror unqueued, Pip's nine gaps closed, and **(ax)**, **(e)**, the drift-verify line, **(aw)**, the `promote-gates` verdict watch (never `--force` a stale verdict) and run 915's monitor closed/queued as recorded, **plus this run's new `work=` attribution item above**. **Closed by this run: queue line "run 941's handed-over lena baseline (1 unit / 1 class no-error-line / marker 18:19:03 / empty work)"** — corrected in place by measurement, `[0.4.336]` unchanged (no changelog entry: the item was a record fix, no `tools/`/`tests/`/`app/` file changed).

- **Close-state:** this entry is appended **before** the commit that carries it (CLOSE PROTOCOL rule 1) and is never `git checkout --`-ed, staged-only or parked in `/tmp` (rules 2–3); the stop-state check is `git status --porcelain` **not listing `agent-logs/PROGRESS.md`** after the commit. The push must leave `git rev-list --count origin/main..main` → **0**. Post-commit re-reads (`queue-source-check`, `inbox-status`, `version-check`, `budget-show`, `healthcheck`, `git status --porcelain`, `rev-list`) are recorded in the **close-correction** bullet appended before commit #2 if one is made (rule 2).

- **Close correction (appended before commit #2 — CLOSE PROTOCOL rule 2): the commit, the push, and the red-watch tick waited for.** `git commit` by explicit pathspec (one path: this file; never `git add -A` on this shared index) → **`e332643`**, `git status --porcelain` **empty straight after it** — the entry was carried by commit #1, not left staged, not `git checkout --`-ed, not parked in `/tmp` (rule 3 holds), and no sibling-desk file was touched (the worktree held exactly one modified path at append time). `git push origin main` → **rc 0, `18d5c85..e332643`**, `git rev-list --count origin/main..main` → **0**, `git rev-list --count main..origin/main` → **0** — A3's condition, re-read at the close. **Post-commit re-reads, all after the push:** `./tools/queue-source-check` → **rc 0**, `one queue: [0.4.336] pointer-only, 111 item line(s) frozen across 290 section(s), 203 PROGRESS bullet(s)` — **R8 cleared by the entry above** (its `[0.4.336]` pointer stays named) and R10 not engaged (this commit carries no `CHANGELOG.md` change); `./tools/inbox-status` → rc 0, `OK - nothing owed` (**STEP 0 still paid at the close: 0 unread dev / 0 prod, no row written**); `./tools/version-check` → `OK: dev=0.4.28 prod=0.4.28 (match)`; `./tools/healthcheck` → **dev + prod HEALTHY, HTTP 200, `0.4.28` both**; `./tools/budget-show` → **2026-10, allowance 5.00 / spent 0.00 / remaining 5.00**; `./tools/system-status` → `git-tree [OK] clean`, `investor-duty [OK] owed=0 unread=0 unreplied=0 open=0`, and `failed-units [FAIL] 1 failed: identity-run@lena.service rc=1 shift_exit=1 **work=1061ins/3files**` — the very figure this run's correction is about, still standing unchanged. **The red-watch tick was waited for, not asserted** (runs 939–941's discipline): the state file read `updated=2026-10-13T18:00:01Z` at 18:16:30Z — a **pre-push** snapshot — so this run slept past the cron's own `*/15` tick and re-read at **18:19:26Z**: `updated=2026-10-13T18:15:01Z, failed=2, fails = A12 ;; A30` — **A3 and A15 stay clear with this push exactly as predicted, and A12/A30 remain what the entry says they are: lena's one unreset failed unit, owned by dated queue item (a⁶) after her Wed 2026-10-14 08:05:17 CEST fire.** Spend **0.00**, free `*-free` models only, no secret or PII in any prompt, file or commit. **Stop-state: `git status --porcelain` does not list `agent-logs/PROGRESS.md`** after commit #2 — this bullet is carried by that commit, not staged-only, not `git checkout --`-ed, not parked in `/tmp`.

Everything is staged and ready; the only remaining dependency is the reviewer's verdict.

**State summary while waiting:**
- Verdict poll running in background (up to 30 min; historical reviewer latency today: 24 min for shift-census, so this is within normal range).
- A4–A8 red-watch fails are mine and self-clearing: `queue-source-check` correctly reports `[0.4.337] is not named in agent-logs/PROGRESS.md` — R8 fires exactly as designed and clears when the PROGRESS entry (naming `[0.4.337]`) lands pre-commit.
- Tree holds exactly my 5 paths + the review request; no sibling interference.
- PROGRESS.md append anchor confirmed (run 942's close-correction bullet is the tail); the run 943 entry will be appended before the explicit-pathspec commit the moment APPROVE arrives.

I'll resume automatically when the poll completes.
