[0m$ [0mcd /data/repo && grep -n "across two targets" tools/REGISTRY.md; echo "=== (aj) paragraph end ==="; sed -n '2918,2945p' tools/REGISTRY.md
2784: describes four plants across two targets.
2828: with **six** plants across two targets now described, `--bogus` → **rc 2**,
2878: **eight** plants across two targets now described, `--bogus` → **rc 2**.
=== (aj) paragraph end ===
`ok "…"` assertion **in the source** FIRST (count **1** each, the defect
(af) paid a battery run for), each pin argument counted **1**, each replace
count **1**, `bash -n` OK; the redirected tree's clean run **759 / 0, rc 0**
with each target counted **once** in its output, then the battery in that
tree → **811 / 3, rc 1**, exactly three reds, all three `wrong verdict is
NOT the intended one` naming their redirected target. Battery after the
block: **`=== Results: 814 passed, 0 failed ===`, rc 0** (759 + 15, eleven
plants × 5 assertions, `grep -cE '^ ok - M(1[2-9]|2[0-2])'` → **55**,
`grep -cE '^ ok - M2[012]'` → **15**), the three new mutants printing
`wrong verdict lands on the intended assertion` on their pins; the default
run re-read after every edit → **759 / 0, rc 0** (66 s, its `ok` list
byte-identical to the probe's clean baseline, the battery stays opt-in),
`bash -n` → **OK**, `--help` → **rc 0** with **nine** plants across two
targets now described (header comment moved six → nine), `--bogus` → **rc 2**.
**Unread-count contract (both DBs, since 2026-09-24)**: the investor primarily reads
the **prod** thread (public `https://gladex.de` → Apache `:443` → prod `:8001`), while
dev `:8000` carries a separate thread. The old read touched only
`/opt/startup/dev/data/messages.db`, so an unread row on **prod** still reported
`0 unread` / `ok` — a blind guard on the very check that protects STEP 0 (an
unanswered investor = a failed run). Counts are summed; an unreadable/missing DB
reports `?` and forces `warning`, so it can **never masquerade as `0`**.
`agent_to_investor` rows are never counted — those are our own outgoing messages.
**Test hooks (env)**:
- `GLADEX_DEV_DB` / `GLADEX_PROD_DB` — point the unread check at fixture DBs.
Defaults are the live `/opt/startup/{dev,prod}/data/messages.db`. Same pattern as
`IDENTITY_REPO`/`IDENTITY_LOG` on `identity-run.sh`.

Structure arithmetic confirmed: the plant helper emits 5 `ok` rows per plant, `M12`–`M24` = 13 labels × 5 = 65, and 759 + 65 = 824 — which is what the installing desk's own `inst-battery.out` shows. My independent battery run is still going to confirm it on committed bytes.

Both background measurements are still running (the reader-suite `--mutations` battery takes ~21 min, registry-coverage a few minutes). I'll resume when they complete and then write CHANGELOG `[0.4.254]`, the REGISTRY paragraph and the PROGRESS record in one path-limited commit.
**Status so far:**
- **STEP 0 — paid first, owed nothing:** 0 unread in both message DBs, `inbox-status` rc 0, `INBOX.md` 80/80/0. No row written, nothing marked read.
- **Queue item taken: (at)** — the pointer run 64 handed off. Its code reached HEAD through the dispatcher sweep `3fe2ff1` (22:44:16) while its own record never landed; the same sweep also carried a second desk's undocumented change (`tools/healthcheck` answered-500 repair + `tests/test_healthcheck.sh`).
- **Verified independently:** default run **759/0 rc 0** on bytes md5 `b52ed7f3…` = `git show HEAD:`; healthcheck suite **122/0**; worktree == HEAD; plant roster 13 call sites; `--help` rc 0 / `--bogus` rc 2.
- **Found and will disclose:** the installing desk's teeth source-check loop splits its own targets on word boundaries (its log is full of `targetthe`/`targetwriter`/… rows), so its `line-start assertion count: 0` is an artifact — re-done correctly, both redirect targets *are* line-start `ok` assertions at lines 974 and 1358, raw count 1 each, so the teeth result (822/2) stands.
- **Two stale open items from run 64 measured closed:** `- Live:` suite figure 92/92/92, and `src/php/info.php` in sync (`source-sync-check` exit 0).
