## Prerequisites
- Linux (amd64) or macOS
- Git (for version-controlling workflows)
- No other dependencies — Gladex is a single binary
## 1. Install Gladex
```bash
# The published binary — the same file the Download page serves
curl -fsSL https://gladex.de/download/gladex -o /usr/local/bin/gladex
chmod +x /usr/local/bin/gladex
# Or build from source
git clone git://git.gladex.de/gladex.git
cd gladex/app/src/go
./build.sh
# Binary outputs to ./gladex
```
## 2. Initialize a Workspace
```bash
mkdir my-project && cd my-project
gladex init
```
This creates:
```
.gladex/
├── config.json # Workspace configuration
├── context.db # SQLite database (contexts, workflows, trust_scores)
└── contexts/ # Context file storage
```
## 3. Push Your First Context
Contexts are named collections of text (code, docs, configs) that AI tools can use.
```bash
# Push from files
gladex context push backend ./src/**/*.go
# Push from stdin (pipe)
echo "System prompt: You are a helpful Go developer." | gladex context push system-prompt
# Push a config file
gladex context push config ./config/*.json
```
## 4. List and Retrieve Contexts
```bash
# List all stored contexts
gladex context list
# Pull a context (with header/footer)
gladex context pull backend
# Pull raw content only
gladex context pull backend --raw
```
## 5. Create and Run a Workflow
Workflows are JSON files that chain context loading, shell commands, and variable interpolation.

## Builder — run 873 — the one line run 872's close wrote out in full: **`tests/test_report_demo.sh`, the 97th suite**, which extracts `REPORT.md` §11's `**5-minute getting started**:` block verbatim and *executes* it — nine exit codes, the byte figure and the step line read out of the document, the `/investor` URL claim, the three `[0.4.285]` controls as live commands, two block mutations, and an out-of-tree replay of the **PRE-FIX** §11 as the guard's own negative control (**21 failed / 46 passed, exit 1**) — **74 passed / 0 failed, exit 0, ~1.3 s**, registry `- Live:` **96 → 97**, CHANGELOG **`[0.4.286]`**
- **STEP 0 paid first, owed nothing — no row written.** The brief's `investor_to_agent` is the `direction` column of the `messages` table in both `/opt/startup/{dev,prod}/data/messages.db`: `SELECT COUNT(*) FROM messages WHERE direction='investor_to_agent' AND read=0` → **0 dev / 0 prod**; `./tools/inbox-status` → **rc 0, `OK - nothing owed (0 unread, 0 open entries all replied)`**, **80 / 80 / 0 open**, last reply dev **144** / prod **109**; `grep '^## ' INBOX.md | grep -v HANDLED` → **0 lines** (the two entries the brief quotes — the 2026-09-30 hiring directive and the 2026-10-05 version-correction message — are both struck through `~~HANDLED~~`). **`INBOX.md` untouched, no `agent_to_investor` row inserted in either DB, nothing marked read** — there was nothing to reply to, and an unanswered investor is a failed run, so this read is the run's first act. **Production is 0.4.28** — `./tools/version-check` → `OK: dev=0.4.28 prod=0.4.28 (match)`, **0.4.29 never quoted**; `./tools/budget-show` → **2026-10 5.00 / 0.00 / 5.00**, spend **0.00**, free `*-free` model only (`opencode/mimo-v2.6-flash-free`), no key configured, **no secret or PII in any prompt, file or commit**.
- **The queue read: every standing line was closed, blocked or owned elsewhere, so this run took the one line 872's close handed over.** **(93)**/**(97)(a)** does not fire (0 unread; `hiring/queue/*.json` still waits on the investor, 2 proposed: `marco-steiner`, `ruben-stoll`). **A12/A30** are other desks' `identity-run@{aylin,mia,sofia}.service` units clearing on their own **08:06–08:55 CEST** timers — **no `systemctl reset-failed`, no unit restarted**. **(av)(d)** stays blocked on the `REPORT.md` §14 ownership sign-off (**still no `rm` without it**); **(i)** the 27.9 GB legacy `/tmp/gocache` cut is operator-only; the `SOA:gladex.de … mname=placeholder` row and §14's five open blocks are investor decisions; **(e)** stays closed; the **`[0.4.258]` citation watch** was **not re-verified** (nothing changed those four files); the drift-verify line stays **finished**; and 872's handover — *"§11's demo still has **no reader**, so the precise unclaimed work stands: `tests/test_report_demo.sh` as the 97th suite … **whoever lands that suite owns `tools/REGISTRY.md`'s `- Live: 96` refresh in the same commit**"* — was executed verbatim and nothing else was added to it.
- **The gap, measured before the file existed, is the class not the bug.** `grep -rln demo tests/` → **0 files** and `grep -rln 'REPORT.md' tests/` → **0 files**: no suite in the tree read §11 at all, so `[0.4.285]`'s three repairs were prose that a future edit could undo silently — the same shape `[0.4.65]` closed for the suite census (a `- Live:` figure nobody re-read) and `test_healthcheck.sh` measured for `tools/healthcheck` (four hand-run commands, zero assertions), one document further out. The block is extracted with `awk` off the `**5-minute getting started**:` fence — **never retyped**, because a retyped copy is a second source of truth and that *is* the defect — and pinned to exactly one anchor (A2), so a second fence cannot be silently picked up.
- **Section A is a whitelist, and the whitelist is how "never touches the real inbox" is checked rather than asserted.** Every one of the nine lines must be `gladex init|context push|context list|workflow create|workflow run|trust record|trust confidence`, or `echo … > <simple name>` whose redirect target is charset-limited (so `> /etc/passwd` and `>> file` are off it — an `echo` the block needs to write its own `notes.txt`/`wf.json` is allowed, a shell escape is not). Four planted lines — §11's own `curl -fsSL …/download/gladex -o /usr/local/bin/gladex`, the MCP line, `curl -X POST …/api/messages`, `rm -rf /data/repo` — are each required to be the classifier's **single** offender (A7.1–A7.4), so a whitelist that had decayed into a `true` reddens instead of passing; A6 additionally greps the block for `curl `, `gladex mcp`, `sudo`, `systemctl`, `api/messages`, `INBOX`, `wget`, `rm -`.
- **Sections B–F run it and pin what §11 claims *out of the document*.** Nine exit codes, one assertion per command (B1–B9), all **0**. The byte figure (`19 bytes`) and the step line (`[2/2] greet (print)... (Hello Gladex) OK`) are **extracted from `REPORT.md`** and matched against the live output (C3/C4, C6/C7) — a document quoting a number the CLI no longer prints reddens here rather than lying to the next reader — plus `Initialized Gladex workspace`, `Pushed context 'project'`, `1 context(s) found.`, `Workflow 'hello' saved (2 steps)`, `Workflow 'hello' completed`, the trust record and its `Score:`. **D** pins §11's single `**URL**:` line with every URL on it ending in `/investor`, and its control is the same count run against a copy with the suffixes dropped → **2** (D5), so the assertion has a reader. **E** runs the three controls as commands, not greps: a nameless step → exit **1** with `invalid workflow: step 0: missing name` (the message §11 quotes), `context push project missing.txt` → exit **1** with `failed to read missing.txt`, and the demo writing nothing outside its sandbox — repo `.gladex` state unchanged (absent before and after), the sandbox `$HOME` **empty**, the residue exactly `.gladex notes.txt wf.json `, no inbox/mail token in the block. **F** keeps the `curl` download line and the MCP fence *inside §11 and outside the block* — both asserted present in the document and absent from the extraction, so their exclusion from the hermetic path is measured instead of implied.
- **Section H is the negative control for the WHOLE suite, not for a part of it: the pre-fix §11 must be caught.** The suite copies **itself** into a sandbox repository (`$RP/tests/`, a planted `$RP/REPORT.md`, a `gladex` symlink at `$RP/app/bin/`) with §11 restored to its three `[0.4.285]` shapes — the `notes.txt` line deleted (eight commands), the push retargeted at `README.md`, the workflow JSON without per-step `name`, the bare origin as the thread URL — and asserts that copy exits **1** with ≥6 failures and reds on *both* the behavioural (B) and URL (D) layers. Measured on a manual replay outside the suite: **21 failed / 46 passed, exit 1**, reddening `A4`, `B0/B2/B5/B6`, `C2/C4/C5/C7–C11`, `D2`, `E7`, `G1/G3/G5/G8b/G10/G11`. The recursion guard needs **no environment variable a caller could set on a live run**: the replay copy has no `.git`, so it skips section H by construction, and the replay is wrapped in `timeout 60` so a broken guard fails instead of hanging (H6 asserts the copy reported no `FAIL - H` at all).
- **The first run of this suite was 59/8, and all four defects were mine — found by running it, which is the point.** (1) the whitelist's trailing `( |$)` allowed one space and then end-of-line, so it rejected **7 of the 9 documented lines** while section B stayed green; (2) section E's residue check counted the runner's own `.rcs`/`cmds.log` state files as demo output (`.gladex .rcs cmds.log notes.txt wf.json`) — the state files now sit **beside** the run directory, which is also what makes the residue assertion mean anything; (3) mutation G1 planted on the `echo` line instead of the push, so the assertion hunted its message at `cmd3` where the original command still sat; (4) G8's expectation was written backwards (`1 0` against a measured `0 1`). Second run: **68/0**; after section H landed, **74/0**.
- **Gates, pre-commit (all read on this run's own bytes).** `bash tests/test_report_demo.sh` → **74 passed / 0 failed / 0 skipped, exit 0, 1.3 s**; `./tools/regression-run --only report_demo` → `ok … 74 0 0 1.2s`, `shapes: suite=1`, **exit 0** (the summary line is parseable by the runner's own NUMBERS regex, i.e. it is a real suite and not a file that prints prose); `./tools/regression-run --list` → **97 suite(s) discovered**; `bash -n` clean. Figure logic re-read after the edit: exactly **1** `- Live:` line carrying a suite figure, first figure **`97 suites`**, and the union of figure+claim lines with **no `YYYY-MM-DD` → 0 lines** (the refresh note carries 2026-10-10, and no line in the new `## test_report_demo.sh` section contains `[0-9]+ suites` — that is why it says `**96 → 97**` and never `97 suites`). `./tools/repo-lint` (HEAD blobs, so it has **not** yet seen this run's files) → **rc 0, `all 194 linted file(s) parse clean`**, `files=351 linted=194 (bash=59)`, `changelog-version: 290 heading(s), 290 unique, 9047 citation(s), 0 missing` — the post-commit predictions are **352 / 195 / bash 60 / 291**, re-read after the commit rather than carried. `./tools/queue-source-check` → **rc 1, `[0.4.286] is not named in agent-logs/PROGRESS.md`** — the expected **R8** trip, cleared by this very entry naming `[0.4.286]`. `./tools/system-status` (read before the CHANGELOG append) → `git-tree [WARN] 2 uncommitted changes`, `go-tests [OK] passing (worktree)`, `go-compile [OK] 46 module file(s) (commit f923205)`, `investor-duty [OK] owed=0 unread=0`, `promote-gates [OK] promote-ready (commit f923205)`, `SOA:gladex.de [WARN] … mname=placeholder (NEEDS-INVESTOR open)`, `red-watch [WARN] red, failed=2` = **A12/A30** (other desks' units) — **no `systemctl reset-failed`, no unit restarted**. `bash tests/test_registry_coverage.sh` (the section-F reader this `- Live:` refresh exists for) was started before the commit and is reported in the close entry.
- **Scope and safety, one line each:** git sees **four paths** — `tests/test_report_demo.sh` (new), `tools/REGISTRY.md` (the `- Live:` **96 → 97** refresh + the `## test_report_demo.sh` section), `CHANGELOG.md` (`[0.4.286]`) and this entry — staged **explicitly by path** (`git status --porcelain` read immediately before the add, `git diff --cached --name-only` after), **never `git add -A`** (this worktree is shared with sibling desks; the sweep runs 871/872 documented is exactly what explicit staging avoids). **No `app/` file and no tool script edited** → **no reviewer gate, no promote**: dev and prod untouched, both **0.4.28**, first CHANGELOG heading still **0.4.28**, suite census **96 → 97** (the `- Live:` line refreshed in the same commit, as section F of `tests/test_registry_coverage.sh` requires of the run that lands a suite). **No `rm`/`rmdir`/`unlink`/`rename`/`chmod` outside this run's own scratch** — the only removals are of directories this suite creates and `trap`s itself (`report-demo.*` under `${TMPDIR:-/tmp}/opencode/`, plus this run's own `/tmp/opencode/replay873` after it was read); the other desk's leftover **`/tmp/ssgc-test.U6CtLO` was not created by this run and was not touched**, and the `(av)(d)` prune stays blocked on the `REPORT.md` §14 sign-off (**still no `rm` without it**). **No unit restarted, no crontab change, no DNS write, no mail sent, no paid API, no API key configured, spend 0.00.** One `git push origin main` follows the commit that carries this entry (the **A3** duty).
- **Close-state:** this entry is appended **before the commit that carries it** (CLOSE PROTOCOL rule 1) and is never `git checkout --`-ed, staged-only or parked in `/tmp` (rules 2–3); the stop-state check is `git status --porcelain` **not listing `agent-logs/PROGRESS.md`** after it.
- **Queue — next small step (read this first):** **`[0.4.286]`, `tests/test_report_demo.sh` and the `- Live: 97` refresh are landed — do not re-write `[0.4.286]`, do not re-refresh the figure, do not re-add §11's suite.** The same class has a next, *unmeasured* instance: **`GETTING-STARTED.md`** (228 lines, five ```bash fences — its §3 `gladex context push backend ./src/**/*.go` and §4 `gladex context pull …` are prose nobody runs) and the near-duplicate **`GETTING_STARTED.md`** (271 lines, same first heading, different file), plus `README.md`'s fences. Two suites read the *file* `GETTING-STARTED.md` for shape (`test_start_page.php`, `test_start_320.php` — token presence, not runnability) and **no suite executes its commands**: the honest next step is the measurement run 873 did for §11 — extract those fences verbatim into a sandbox and run them, **keeping install/network lines (`curl … -o /usr/local/bin`, `git clone`, `./build.sh`) outside the hermetic path exactly as §11's `curl`/MCP lines stay out** — then either extend this suite with a second block or add `tests/test_getting_started.sh` as the **98th** (and decide which of the two near-identical getting-started files is canonical; that decision is a doc-owner call, not a rename I make unilaterally). Whoever lands a suite then owns the `- Live: 97` refresh in the same commit. Then the standing lines, in order: **(93)**/**(97)(a)** first if the investor answers `hiring/queue/*.json` (STEP 0 reads **0 unread / 0 owed**, 2 proposed); the **failed-units reds (A12/A30)** are other desks' shifts clearing on their own **08:06–08:55 CEST** timers — **do not `systemctl reset-failed`**; **(av)(d)** after the `REPORT.md` §14 ownership sign-off (**still no `rm` without it**); then **(i)** the operator's 27.9 GB legacy `/tmp/gocache` cut, the `SOA:gladex.de … mname=placeholder` row, `REPORT.md` §14's five open blocks, and the **`[0.4.258]` citation watch** (**not re-verified this run — do not re-verify until something changes those four files**). **(e)** stays closed: do not re-queue "quota-report (jobs 50/72)". The drift-verify line stays **finished** — no assertion added to `G0`–`G5` without a new measured defect behind them.
